4 Most Dangerous Viruses Recorded in Computer Programming History

Virus…they have a tendency to scare people, because they make sick. Neither the humans, not their computer can be saved, depending upon what hits what.

Let’s zero down our discussion on ‘bad’ computer programs called Virus.

If you are not scared to death (exaggerating is fun!), here is a list of the 4 most negatively impacting computer viruses (your only rescue from them is Antivirus Software) that wreaked havoc on the businesses by entering into their computers through their so-called secured network.

Novarg (also known as MyDoom)

The feats of this mass-mailer worm includes-
·         Generating traffic through the web
·         Infecting around 2 million computers
·         Causing damage of somewhere over $38 million
Launched in 26th Jan of 2004, it appeared to be a message of failed email transaction to the users, read as “Mail Transaction Failed”. However, when clicked, it accessed the address book of the user, using it as a tool to spread even more with every single mail.

CIH (also known as Chernobyl)

The achievement of is listed below:
·         Damage worth $250 million
·         Destruction of data on the memory by deletion or overwriting
The year 1998 is remembered for the environment this virus created, targeting Windows 95 and 98, and the executable files in the system with these specific OS. After getting activated, it tampers the Flash BIOS chip by overwriting and thus making it useless. It meant that the user will not be able to boot the machine, unless it is reprogrammed.

Code Red

Sounds military, it will always be remembered for –
·         $2.6 billion dollars of damage
·         Impacting around 1 million computers and 400,000 servers in less than a week
·         Being very secretive
The year 2001 was when this worm was launched, going undetected until the worse happens. The name was given by employees of eEye Digital Security when they were enjoying Code Red Mountain Dew (soft drink). The malware didn’t need opening any attachment to run infectious files. An active Internet connection was all it needed to leave the message- “Hacked by Chinese!” on the webpage viewed at the time.

Sasser (and Netsky and their variants)

Its facts-to-be-flaunted are-
·         $150,000 in damage
·         Written by a German teen (18 years to be exact)
·         Thousands of computers impacted
Microsoft offered $250,000 bounty, which turned the virus writer, Sven Jaschan, in the hands of the law by his own friend. The news was that he wanted to do good but ended up in creating a Worm that proved devastating.
Now you know what harmful program did in past (and can do in future), either you can protect yourself just by getting a free Antivirus Software tool, or continue to live in the refuge of Virus-fear!
